Our Mission
Lighthouse Literacy is dedicated to making high-quality, research-based literacy instruction accessible and affordable for families who need it most. Through scholarships, grants, and community support, we provide individualized tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham approach to help students build foundational reading skills, confidence, and long-term academic success.

Board of Directors
Founder/President
Julie graduated from Michigan State University in Elementary Education and received a master's degree in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University. She has been an elementary teacher for over 20 years. She is Orton-Gillingham trained and uses structured literacy practices aligned with the Science of Reading. For the past four years, she has also worked as a literacy tutor, providing one-on-one literacy instruction to children with a variety of reading needs.
Treasurer
Julie has been an elementary teacher for 21 years in Central Oregon. She attended the University of Oregon and earned her Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon University. Throughout her career, she has taught first, second, and third grades and currently teaches first grade. She is passionate about helping all students succeed and develop a love of reading!
Secretary
Keturah has worked in education for 12 years, with a focus on supporting young children with diverse learning needs. She holds a Master of Science in Special Education with an endorsement in Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE). She began her career as an educational assistant with High Desert ESD, working in ECSE and ABA classrooms. She currently works as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher with Douglas ESD in Jackson County.
